FREQUENT ASKED QUESTION

Q. What is hypnosis?

A. Hypnosis is a normal and natural condition that occurs when the brain waves Alpha and Theta are activated. Alpha is the brainwave that helps us go into hypnosis and Theta is the brainwave that enables us to accept and absorb suggestions.

When a person has completed a task and sits down to rest, or when time is taken to reflect or meditate, we are usually in alpha brain wave mode. Theta mode we are most often in when we follow an immersive movie or when we do things on autopilot. For example, when we drive a well-known route home and discover that we have not noticed the last ten km. Therefore, it is quite natural to slip into hypnosis several times a day.

Q. Do I lose control when I am in hypnosis?

A. You can never do anything you do not feel like doing when you are in hypnosis, and you can not remain in hypnosis. You are never out of control, in hypnosis we work with your inner values and beliefs, and therefore only suggestions that are in your interest can be accepted. The hypnosis is initiated while you are in a comfortable sitting or lying position, you do not walk around at any time but remain in the same position until the hypnosis ends.

Q. How does it feel to be hypnotized?

A. Hypnosis is not a state that is markedly different from your normal state of consciousness. In fact, you will pay more attention when you are in hypnosis. Hypnosis is a natural and mild condition in which you feel an increased level of relaxation. Do not expect to feel hypnotized, most people are not aware that they are in hypnosis until they come out of hypnosis. In fact, you will be more aware in hypnosis. Many clients feel without it being different from a relaxation state or meditation-like state, and don’t realise they are in hypnosis until they come out of it.

Q. Is it hard to get hypnotized?

A. It is very simple to get into hypnosis and it is very simple to get out of hypnosis again. Through a technique, you will be guided into hypnosis. The technique activates the brain wave alpha, which is the same brain wave that is activated when, for example, we are about to fall asleep. There is no right or wrong way to experience hypnosis. Some experience that (they fall away), where others do not feel that they are being hypnotized and just follow the instructions, in both cases a hypnosis state is activated.

The depth of trance has nothing to do with the results you get. You can be in a light stage and get amazing results and you can be in deep stage and the results you get won’t be any better for that reason. Expect to feel relaxed, suggestions of relaxation will create that effect and you may or may not notice going deeper into that natural state of hypnosis."

Q. Who can use hypnosis?

A.  Everyone can be hypnotized, it is a stage we naturally enter all the time. In fact, many times you can not prevent yourself from being hypnotized.

Q. What can hypnosis be used for??

A. Getting the mind to change can be hard work, except when using hypnosis, because the mind accepts and absorbs suggestions in hypnosis that it would not normally accept out of hypnosis. However, it must be changes that you want to achieve.

Q. How long does it take to get into hypnosis?

A. It takes a few minutes to get into hypnosis and less time to get out of hypnosis again.
